Work Sample Selection/Summary
The sample below is an idea for how Bryan ISD Communications can get more use out of its green room/studio while staying ahead of the curve in school communications. The introduction of a video game-show-style podcast could serve as a vehicle to create engaging content in a more efficient manner. Students and staff would be invited to our studio to share their fun side while also showcasing the skills they developed at Bryan ISD. The production would be live-streamed and then cut into pieces that would be promoted separately.
My Role
I helped create a mockup for redesigning the studio and made a rundown of the show's first few episodes. After review, we got the go-ahead from leadership to develop the elements needed for the new studio. Our team collaborated with the district's industrial engineering and robotics teacher to create a light-up metal sign and a construction teacher to create a studio desk.
Lasting Impact
The project is on hold at the moment. If it turns out to have legs, it could serve as a semi-regular virtual showcase to accompany Bryan ISD's in-person showcase, an event displaying all of Bryan ISD's programs and campuses. If hired at Texas A&M University, I would go in with an understanding that projects can sometimes work at their own speed. I have learned that communications requires reshuffling, reshaping, and staying flexible. Change can be difficult, but a clear vision for the future is essential.
